Flu vaccine is now available. Children 6-35 months of age will be given the fluzone (shot)
Children 6 months through 8 years of age receiving flu vaccine for the first time should receive two doses at least one month apart. Children aged 6 months thru 8 years, vaccinated for the first time in the 2013-2014 season, but who received only one dose, should receive two doses in 2014-2015. All others need one dose of vaccine.
Flumist is also available for those 24 months through 18 years of age with no history of Asthma or wheezing.
It is highly recommended that any children with a history of asthma be given the flu vaccine due to their increased risk for respiratory disease.
